How to Create an iPad App of Your Favorite Websites

with No Comments

You can make an “app” (really it is just a shortcut) on your mobile device so you can quickly access all the resources on your favorite websites, such as Marotta on Money. The process of creating the link takes less than a minute, but can save you a lot of time if you like visiting the website regularly.

These instructions are for iPhone or iPad. I suspect the procedure is similar for Android devices.

First, open Safari on your Apple device and navigate to MarottaOnMoney.com. Whatever page you have open will be the one that you will be creating a shortcut to, so if you’d prefer to navigate to Recent Articles and save that one, then navigate there.

Next, click the “Share” icon. The button looks like a box with an arrow pointing up.

This icon can be found at the bottom of the page on the iPhone. However, it is at the top of the page on an iPad.

In the options menu that opens, one of the options will be “Add to Home Screen.” You may need to scroll down or scroll left to find this option.

Once clicking “Add to Home Screen,” you will have the chance to edit the name of the icon that will be created on the Home Screen. Once you are satisfied, click Add.

Now, you can click your home button to open the home screen and see your new icon. If you’d like you can now drag the item to a new placement on your home screen or into a folder. And you are done!

In this way when you want to go to Marotta on Money, you can simply click the icon on your phone. These same instructions work for your other favorite websites.
